You can use any Download Manager of your choice as long as it supports downloading with multiple connections. You can also set the Max Chunks per Download to 16 but 8 is usually the most stable and default across download managers.
So the reason the download is taking so long is because the launcher uses a single connection which tends to be slow, by using a Download Manager like JDownloader 2 that uses multiple connections for the download you can speed up the download by a lot.
